Evelyn Loong

Evelyn Loong has over 20 years’ experience in children’s art & craft teaching. Currently, she is teaching art (ages 3.5 and up) at a Montessori school in Richmond Hill. She also runs her own group and private art classes. Her teaching has always been well received and often complimented by both students and parents.

In 1992, Evelyn graduated from the Ontario College of Art and Design with an Honour Distinction Award. Her artistic talent was well recognized and her effort was viewed as exemplary. She was a graphic and website designer. After working in the design field for many years, she took a leap of faith in her career, then created and developed her own products for sale.

Before immigrated to Canada, Evelyn was a primary and high school teacher. She graduated from The Hong Kong Institute of Education, and received her teaching licence as a fully qualified teacher. With extensive experience in teaching, she was also responsible for the art department at the prominent Hong Kong Children Choir for years. Throughout her professional tenure, she was instrumental in developing many art ideas to stimulate the creativity and uniqueness of children. She has implemented numerous art programs to enrich the artistic nature of children at the time.

With enormous interest to develop a well-rounded art program and a sincere desire to nurture the creativity of the next generation, Evelyn decided to widen her scope of teaching to include the modern technology. Her program is not limited to the traditional painting and drawing, but also includes website design, Chinese calligraphy. She also assists students to prepare their art portfolio for application to art schools in colleges and universities. In 2013, one of her students was successfully admitted to the OCAD environmental design program.

In 1988, she has organized and led a group of high school students to paint a mural at the St. Barnabus School in Scarborough. Besides learning from her art class, she also loves giving various opportunities to her students to experience arts. In 2015, she brought one of her students, Brian L and his mother, to paint two huge size, 29’ x 11’ and 7’ x 6’, outdoor murals at a Montessori school in Richmond Hill. She received numerous compliments on these art pieces.

Evelyn enjoys working with children and she is fun to work with according to her students. She is fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
